Hello Friends—
Welcome to the 245 new subscribers who joined since last week’s edition. Happy to have you in our (growing) community!
Well, Halloween is finally here and there’s plenty to do this weekend! Personally, I’m ready for this bowl of chocolate in our living room to be gone because I can’t not see it. Could be any hour of the day and I’ll justify why I should have one (or three). Anyways.
You’ve got your pick of adult Halloween parties on Friday… Double Groove, Natalie’s Seafood, Looney’s Pub… all having one. Sol Oaxaca Cocina is hosting their Día de los Muertos celebration on Saturday… and Twisted Roots is having their Mystery Pumpkin Hunt at their shop now through Sunday.
Scroll down, make plans, and enjoy your weekend!
P.S. Don’t miss our new “Locals Know Best” section — where each week, I’ll bring on Bel Air and Harford County experts in their field to share quick, practical tips to help you live, work, and enjoy local life a little more.

This week’s reader submission is: Princess & Phoebe
“This is Princess and Phoebe! After my cat, Isabella, who had been with me for 18 1/2 years, died in July 2024, I adopted Princess and Phoebe from the local animal shelter. They were five months old at the time and were sisters as well as litter mates. They had already bonded with each other so they both came home with me that same day. They are delightful and I am so glad I made the decision to take them both!!”

The inseparable Princess & Phoebe!
Have a furry, feathered, or scaly friend you’re proud of? Send a photo and a few fun facts, and we might feature them in an upcoming issue. It’s a fun way to share smiles with the community and discover local pet resources along the way.

Date Spot Of The Week
The Pickle Factory (Bel Air)
📍 2302 E. Churchville Rd, Bel Air, MD 21015
Stay with me on this one… This week’s date spot is The Pickle Factory — a fun, offbeat spot for couples who’d rather swap small talk for a little friendly competition.
I was just there on Tuesday for happy hour… didn’t get any pickle-balling in but if I had the proper attire it looked like a good time.
Play a few rounds of pickleball, then unwind in their modern lounge with a rotating selection of domestic, imported, and craft beers, along with a curated list of wines and light snacks. The vibe is energetic but relaxed — perfect for laughing it out before heading to dinner nearby or refueling between matches.
👉 Check out the lounge & book a court: mypicklefactory.com/lounge
